With only a day left until the release of Ys VIII: Lacrimosa of DANA, the highly-anticipated action RPG’s PC version has been delayed indefinitely. The official reason for the delay is “continued efforts to improve gameplay quality.”
The announcement explains the delay as follows.
“We regret to inform everyone that the release date for Ys VIII: Lacrimosa of DANA on PC has been pushed back due to continued efforts in improving gameplay quality.
We sincerely apologize to our fans who have been looking forward to this release. Ultimately, our goal is for fans to enjoy a high-quality game. We are providing the extra care in the PC development of the game by taking time to enhance the overall quality of gameplay.”
Given that many console-oriented games receive poor PC ports, I am glad that NIS America is taking the time to ensure that the PC port is of a respectable quality. It’s just unfortunate that PC users will have to wait longer than PlayStation 4 and PlayStation Vita users to play the game.
A new Ys VIII PC release date will be announced at a later date. In the meantime, the PlayStation 4 and PlayStation Vita versions of the game are still set to launch in North America tomorrow.
