Sublevel Zero is a game that I’ve rather enjoyed playing over the past year and a half. Sigtrap Games’ roguelike 6DoF combat flight game has a beautiful simplicity to it, but also a healthy amount of challenge and depth. I’ve been personally awaiting the Redux update with bated breath, as it introduces a massive number of changes. An intro campaign, a revamped main campaign, saving mid-game, new starting classes, new enemies, and elite enemies are just some of the changes that the update brings with it. Oh, and VR support for those who own a VR headset.
Today at 10 AM PDT, the update is finally set to go live. As of today, the game will become “Sublevel Zero Redux” and the original version of the game will be “retired” to a separate branch that is still accessible to those who own the game, but will no longer be updated.
Sigtrap Games Lead Artist Gary Lloyd had the following to say about the announcement.
“We’re really excited about the upcoming release of Sublevel Zero Redux on PC. It’s been great to see such a positive response from the community and we can’t wait to see what people think of the extra content.”
Sigtrap Games Lead Programmer Dr. Luke Thompson also provided a statement.
“We created the first outline of Sublevel Zero at a game jam, as a love letter to games we grew up with like Descent and Forsaken. From the start we knew it would be awesome in VR, and though it’s taken us a while to finalise support we think it’s been worth the wait.”
