Following a short delay of only a few hours, StarCraft: Remastered has arrived. You can now jump into the game and play the classic sci-fi RTS play in 16:9 resolutions, supporting upwards of 4K, with HD graphics. The game also features a “modern” matchmaking system with a ladder and a leaderboard. Players can check out one another’s profiles for multiplayer stats, replays, and more. Remastered even features cloud save support, allowing you to take your saves wherever you go.
While the two versions are functionally different in several ways, StarCraft: Remastered players take part in multiplayer matches with those who only own the original StarCraft.
Blizzard Entertainment CEO and co-founder Mike Morhaime had the following to say about the announcement.
“We know how much StarCraft and Brood War mean to our community around the world, and our primary mission with StarCraft: Remastered was to enhance as much as we could while keeping the core StarCraft experience intact. Whether you’re a StarCraft veteran or you’re experiencing the beginning of the saga for the first time, we hope you enjoy revisiting the Koprulu Sector as much as we did.”
StarCraft: Remastered is now available on the Blizzard Shop for $14.99.
