Magikarp Jump Is A Real Thing That Is Out Now

Today in the bizarre and completely unpredictable, The Pokémon Company International announced that its mobile simulation game Magikarp Jump has been released in the West. This odd simulation game tasks players with catching Magikarp of a variety of colors and patterns and then training them to compete in jumping tournaments. Should your Magikarp be knocked out or reach level 20 and retire, you will then “start over with a new generation of Magikarp” that starts out slightly stronger than the last. You then continue to train each generation of Magikarp “until you can make it to the top of the in-game tournament ladder.”

It’s a bizarre concept and not one that I would have ever imagined would become a reality, even considering the notoriety that Magikarp has earned for being one of the most useless Pokémon of all time. Nonetheless, should you be so inclined to try the game out, you can download it now via the App Store or Google Play.
