Guilty Gear Xrd -SIGN- didn’t launch on Steam until a year after its North American console release. Guilty Gear Xrd -REVELATOR- didn’t make it to Steam until six months after its North American console release. Arc System Works announced Guilty Gear Xrd REV 2’s Steam release date yesterday and many are surprised, as it is set to launch on Steam on June 1st, a mere six days after its North American console release. It will be available as a Guilty Gear Xrd -REVELATOR- DLC pack for 2000 yen, which means that it will likely cost somewhere between $15 and $20.
For those who don’t know, the REV 2 update includes balance changes, a new character named Answer, new moves for all of the game’s characters, and new story content. It also includes the playable character Baiken, who is making her first appearance in the Xrd series of Guilty Gear games despite having appeared in various other Guilty Gear titles.
The REV 2 update will also include an online lobby feature on PC, which Arc System Works detailed in a blog post today. Players will be able to set lobbies up for automatic rematches until one player wins three matches, chat using a set of pre-written sentences, set a color for an arrow that will appear next to their names in lobbies, set lobbies so that only beginners can join, and play a treasure chest mini-game akin to fishing for a chance to win rare items.
