17-Bit’s GALAK-Z was a rather good game, offering both style and substance. It was also insanely difficult, a fact which worked against it in the eyes of many. Given that, a mobile version of the game isn’t something that I ever expected—mobile games are often much easier in nature—and yet, a mobile version of GALAK-Z, entitled GALAK-Z: Variant Mobile, soft-launched in the Philippines earlier this week.
GALAK-Z: Variant Mobile aims to take everything that was great about the original game and move it to a free-to-play mobile format. Players will be able to shoot through enemies with their ship, slice through enemies with their mech’s sword, collect Droids that will be used to battle other players in the Droid Battle League, and upgrade their ship, mech, and Droids. A story featuring more than 100 missions will lead players through a story in which they must eventually defeat “the evil Baron’s army of nasty Imperial troops.”
At this time, GALAK-Z: Variant Mobile is only available in the Philippines, with a global release set for a later date. Those with the proper accounts can download the game now via the App Store or Google Play. More information about the game can be found on the official website.
