At long last, Ubisoft has formally unveiled Beyond Good and Evil 2. It turns out that the would-be sequel is actually a prequel, taking place before the first game’s protagonist Jade is even born. In it, players get to explore System 3, “a vast solar system and a hub of interstellar colonization and commerce in the 24th century.” They will be able to explore System 3 freely, traveling through space to various planets and moons.
Surprisingly, the game will also feature seamless online multiplayer, allowing players to explore the game’s “massive” solar system either alone or with friends. Ubisoft has been implementing some form of seamless online multiplayer or other into many of its games for several years now, but I don’t think that anyone expected that Beyond Good and Evil 2 would be one such game.
Ubisoft is also including fans in the game’s development in some form or another, which you can sign up for via the official website, but the site appears to be overloaded, as I’ve yet to be able to access it.
